Icon is functionally rich in the key areas of investment administration, from recording trades through to calculating income, and fund accounting, with multi-currency accounting, multi-class unitised fund price calculation and reporting.
Core investment position and accounting
- All transactions update both the asset holding position and the accounting position in real-time
- Asset positions can be maintained with up to three book costs
- Icon maintains account postings and balances for up to three cost bases, each in three currencies
Investment Administration
- Trade entry screens cater for security, spot and forward FX, derivative and money market trades
- Security trade, forward FX and capital event settlements can be recorded. Settlement transactions are generated automatically or entered manually
- Icon calculates and records income from dividend and interest bearing securities. Income transactions are generated automatically or entered manually
- Capital events can be either manually or automatically processed across all portfolios
Fund Accounting
- A user-defined full chart of accounts is maintained for each portfolio
- Icon caters for both cash deposits and money market instruments
- Icon values user-defined asset positions and re-values accounts as at any historical date and time
- Icon's multi-class pricing module provides a highly configurable mechanism for handling different types of funds, with no practical limit on the number of classes within a fund
- Icon supports both International Accounting Standards, effective from 1st January 2005, and the Investment Management Association SORP, effective from 1st January 2007
- Icon provides a wide range of standard operational reports and a powerful Report Writer for additional user-defined reports
- Icon calculates the capital gain/loss for equities and other securities still within UK Capital Gain Tax legislation
- Icon can forecast income for a future year by projecting dividend and interest income
- Icon calculates the rates of return on individual assets, individual sectors and entire portfolios by country or currency, over any time period
